August 12: The 1892 Lynching of Henry James in Little Rock by Guy Lancaster, PhD
Guy Lancaster holds a Ph.D. in Heritage Studies from Arkansas State University and is the author, co-author, or editor of several books on racial violence in Arkansas, including: Racial Cleansing in Arkansas, 1883–1924: Politics, Land, Labor, and Criminality; Bullets and Fire: Lynching and Authority in Arkansas, 1840–1950; The Elaine Massacre and Arkansas: A Century of Atrocity and Resistance, 1819–1919; the revised edition of Blood in Their Eyes: The Elaine Massacre of 1919; and the forthcoming American Atrocity: The Types of Violence in Lynching. September 9: Rose Law Firm, 200 Years of History by Paul Parnell
Join the QQA for a discussion about the two centuries of Rose Law Firm history. Paul is member and chief financial officer of the Rose Law Firm, whose practice focuses on commercial financing transactions, new markets tax credit financings, mergers and acquisitions and all aspects of federal and state tax planning, with an emphasis on individual, estate and gift, corporate and flow through tax planning. Join the QQA with Arkansas Historic Preservation Program historian Holly Hope for Flora, Fauna and Faces: Reading Cemetery Symbolism, a discussion of historic symbolism or iconography in Arkansas’s cemeteries.
It is a look at the roots of such images and the meanings behind them. We will also explore the evolution of funerary symbolism.
