Richard C. Butler Award of Merit -- Rehabilitation of 716 Sherman Street and 722 Sherman Street
716 Sherman Street and 722 Sherman Street are both contributing resources of the National Register listed MacArthur Park Historic District.
716 Sherman, a craftsman style bungalow was constructed in c. 1930. When it was acquired by Haney Contractors, it was in a very deteriorated state. The roof had failed, there was active water infiltration in the house and nearly every surface needed attention. 716 Sherman is a rental property with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The Haneys also took on rehabilitation of 722 Sherman at the same time. Like the previous house, 722 Sherman had been left in a derelict state. 722 is also a craftsman style bungalow, this house has an earlier date of construction, approximately 1886. It was remodeled in 1910.
716 Sherman is a rental property with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. 722 Sherman is now a 4 bedroom, 2-and-a-half-bathroom house. Both 716 and 722 Sherman are a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
The QQA recognizes Kevin Haney and Gary Haney of Haney Contractors, LLC for the rehabilitation of 716 & 722 Sherman Street, MacArthur Park National Register listed Historic District.
